Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) together with Pemuda Katolik Komda Jawa Barat held the Quarter I 2026 Simultaneous Corn Planting on land spanning 80 hectares in Desa Mande, Cianjur Regency, West Java, on Saturday.

In a statement received in Jakarta, Cianjur Police Chief Ajun Komisaris Besar Polisi (AKBP) Akhmad Alexander Yurikho Hadi said the activity demonstrates the commitment to support the national food self-sufficiency programme, which is being reinforced through cross-sector collaboration.

He emphasised that Polri’s involvement in the activity is a tangible form of support for the government’s strategic programme to strengthen national food security.

“This corn planting is the embodiment of synergy between Polri, youth organisations, and the community to strengthen food security while also delivering economic benefits for farmers and surrounding communities,” said AKBP Akhmad.

The land belongs to PT Cirata Wahana Pesona Sakti (Yayasan Trisakti) and is managed by CV. Nera Agro Mandiri, the Pemuda Katolik Cianjur unit business.

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with the Cianjur Police, Bulog Cianjur, Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) Cianjur, and the Desa Mande Farmers’ Group (Gapoktan).

Stefanus Gusma, Chairman of the Central Executive Board (PP) of Pemuda Katolik, said the involvement of Pemuda Katolik cadres in the programme represents active participation of the youth generation in addressing the nation’s strategic agenda.

“Food security is a matter for the nation’s future. Therefore, Pemuda Katolik cadres must be present with tangible work, building collaboration with government, authorities, and farming groups,” Gusma said.

He also urged Pemuda Katolik cadres in various regions to develop similar programmes as part of tangible contributions to the public.

Meanwhile, Alfian Syukur, head of Pemuda Katolik West Java Komda, assessed that managing agricultural land through collaboration can open new economic opportunities while strengthening the cadre’s role in regional development.

Separately, Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo led the national Quarter I 2026 Simultaneous Corn Planting centred in South Sumatra and attended by regional police forces across Indonesia via Zoom.

The Police Chief stressed that the programme is a mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to realise national food self-sufficiency.

Beyond strengthening food security, increasing corn production is considered vital to meet rising needs, including supporting the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

The President previously expressed optimism that the government would achieve food self-sufficiency within the next three years.

The President stressed that food sovereignty is a cornerstone of national autonomy, while ensuring an equitable farming ecosystem that supports farmers as the front line of national food security.
