Recently, thick fumes resembling fog with a strong smell have
been noticeable in Bekasi. At first, I thought a resident must
have been burning his garbage. But that was not the case.

The fumes appear in the morning and may reappear at dusk. We
are very concerned with the pollution which gives rise to
coughing and suffocation after a certain time.

We request the related agencies deal with the problem as soon
as possible and we call for the preservation of clean air. Even
though the fumes may be within the permissible threshold, they
still strongly affect us. Aren't we entitled to a healthy
environment? Please enforce the pertinent law.

Neighboring factories should adhere to the environmental law
by strictly controlling their waste. By doing so they will
participate in the protection of our country from environmental
destruction.
