Poll official turns out to be thief

PURBALINNGA, Central Java: A legislative candidate who is also
a local member of the Indonesian Elections Committee is in
trouble after he was caught red-handed stealing ballot cards on
Thursday.

Catur Setyo Utomo of the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) admitted to police to have stolen 21
ballot cards.

Setyo Utomo couldn't resist the temptation when he, along with
other committee members, was sorting out ballot cards in the
election committee office.

In fact, he was warned by a committee official when he stole
nine cards. Instead of relinquishing the cards, he stole 12 more
and hid them in a magazine which carries the picture of party
chief Megawati Soekarnoputri. (45)
