Poll: Majority of Americans oppose Trump's military action against Iran
Washington (ANTARA) - A poll released on Friday (6 March) by PBS News/NPR/Marist shows that a majority of Americans disapprove of how US President Donald Trump is handling the US-Israel–Iran conflict and oppose the military action.
As the military operation against Iran approaches its first weekend, the survey found that 56 percent of Americans oppose the US military action in Iran, while 44 percent support it.
A large majority of Republican supporters back both the president’s approach and the military strike, at 79 percent and 84 percent respectively, while 86 percent of Democrats oppose both, according to the poll results.
Among independent respondents, around six in ten do not agree with how Trump is handling the situation and oppose the military action, he added.
The poll was released as members of Congress from the Democratic and Republican parties were sharply divided over the attack on Iran. Democrats condemned the action, arguing that there is no real threat from Iran and that the attack did not obtain congressional authorization.
