Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago has called on all parties, including the public, to work hand in hand in eradicating narcotics.

“The fight against narcotics is not only the duty of the state and law enforcement. This is a duty in this world and the hereafter to save humanity, to save the future of our nation,” said Djamari while attending the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse (HANI) commemoration held at the Grand Rehabilitation Centre of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in Bogor, as quoted from an official press release on Friday.

According to Djamari, such collaboration is essential because the spread of narcotics today is highly massive.

If the effort relies on law enforcement alone, Djamari believes the state will struggle to eradicate the circulation of these illegal goods.

He continued that the phenomenon of narcotics distribution must also become a public concern because it can threaten the nation’s future generations.

“Narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking are not merely legal issues, but a real threat to the nation’s future. Therefore, let us move together to save Indonesia’s young generation from the dangers of narcotics,” Djamari stressed.

To agencies such as the BNN, the National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Attorney General’s Office, Djamari also urged them to work professionally, strengthen integrity and be transparent in eradicating narcotics trafficking.

He said such attitudes must be possessed by law enforcement officers so they are worthy of bearing the responsibility as the spearhead of narcotics eradication.
