Politics this week: Indian PM's visit to DPR forms special committee on FA case

President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the signing and announcement of 16 cooperation documents between Indonesia and India at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The 16 documents cover inter-agency and corporate cooperation in various fields, including space exploration, defence, health, agriculture, telecommunications, and education.

President Prabowo Subianto launched the Mandatory B50 Biodiesel Programme in Karawang Regency, West Java, on Thursday, as a step to strengthen energy independence and reduce dependence on imported fuel oil. “With the blessing of God Almighty, on this Thursday afternoon, 9 July 2026, I officially launch the B50 biodiesel,” the President stated.

The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Constitutional Court (MK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding synergy in interpreting the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. MPR official Muzani explained that one of the agreements allows the MPR to provide information regarding the drafting of a constitutional article before the MK decides on a judicial review petition.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) addressed the presence of its personnel guarding the home of Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. TNI Information Centre Head Brigadier General Muhamad Nas stated that the security was provided at the request of the Attorney General’s Office and coordinated according to Presidential Regulation No. 66 of 2025 concerning the protection of prosecutors in carrying out their duties.

The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III officially agreed to form a working committee (panja) to oversee the handling of a corruption case involving former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. The decision was made during a special meeting chaired by Commission III Head Habiburokhman at the DPR complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.
