Politics this week: BGN leadership inauguration to TNI denials

- Prabowo inaugurates Nanik Deyang, Agustina, and Trenggono as BGN leadership
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Nanik S. Deyang as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), along with Agustina Arumsari and retired TNI Major General Trenggono as Deputy Heads of BGN, in a ceremony at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday. The inauguration was based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18/M of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Head and Deputy Heads of the National Nutrition Agency, as well as the dismissal of the Deputy Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
- Said Iqbal appointed as Special Advisor for Employment Affairs
President of the Labour Party and President of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI), Said Iqbal, was officially appointed by President Prabowo Subianto as Special Advisor to the President for Employment Affairs at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday. Said Iqbal’s appointment was held in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 58/P of 2026 concerning the Appointment of the President’s Special Advisor for Employment and Labour Welfare.
- President Prabowo reveals reasons for overseas visits
President Prabowo Subianto stated that his overseas visits are part of maintaining good relations with friendly nations and demonstrating the implementation of Indonesia’s free and active foreign policy. While opening the XVIII National Conference of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandar Lampung, Lampung Province, which was followed online from Jakarta on Wednesday, President Prabowo mentioned that both he and President Joko Widodo are often criticised regarding their trips abroad.
- TNI denies demolishing school in NTT to replace it with KDMP
The Head of the TNI Information Centre, Brigadier General Muhamad Nas, said his institution never intended to demolish a school in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and replace it with a Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP). Nas made the statement in response to a viral video on social media that appeared to show TNI members dismantling part of the Wolomoni State Elementary School building in Niowula Village, Detusoko District, Ende, NTT, to replace it with a KDMP building.
- TNI denies abducting Mama Sinta
Commander of the XXIV/Mandala Trikora Regional Command, Major General Frits Wilem Rizard Pelamonia, asserted that the TNI was not involved in the alleged abduction of Yasinta Moiwend, known as Mama Sinta, which has been widely discussed recently. “I guarantee that was not an act by the TNI. There was no abduction as widely reported,” Major General Frits said during a press briefing in Jakarta on Thursday.
