Jakarta (ANTARA) - Various political events yesterday drew attention, including the use of the state budget for President Prabowo Subianto’s sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha and his warm welcome by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Commission III: State Budget for Sacrificial Animals Not Misused

House of Representatives Commission III Chair Habiburokhman stated that using the state budget for President Prabowo Subianto’s sacrificial animals during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah was not improper.

‘Using state budget funds for President Prabowo Subianto’s sacrificial animals through the presidential assistance scheme is legally and Sharia-compliant,’ Habiburokhman said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

Habiburokhman explained that under law, presidential assistance programs for citizens are regulated under Article 3(1) of Law No. 17 of 2003 on State Finance.

TNI Navy Conducts Maneuver and Evacuation Drills in Balikpapan Waters

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) conducted ship maneuvering and casualty evacuation exercises in Balikpapan waters, East Kalimantan, on Tuesday (26/5) to strengthen soldiers’ mission capabilities.

According to a press release from the TNI Headquarters Public Affairs Center issued Thursday, the activity was carried out by BKO Guspurla Koarmada II elements.

‘Exercises must continue to enhance readiness of units and personnel so they remain prepared for field operations,’ said Guspurla Koarmada II Commander, First Admiral Endra Hartono.

Disaster Recovery Task Force: Sumatra Post-Disaster Management Enters Permanent Recovery Phase

The Sumatra Post-Disaster Accelerated Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) stated that hydro-meteorological disaster management in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has entered the permanent recovery phase.

According to a Thursday statement from the task force, the rehabilitation and reconstruction (rehab-rekon) programme will be implemented in phases until 2028.

Satgas PRR Chair Muhammad Tito Karnavian said disaster response follows three main stages: emergency response, transition, and permanent recovery.

Commission I: TNI Can Assist Police in Handling Banditry

Commission I Deputy Chair Dave Laksono stated that the military can address banditry crimes through a support mechanism if the Indonesian National Police (Polri) requires additional assistance to maintain public stability and security.

He said such involvement must be measured, have clear legal basis, be conducted as per field needs, and maintain good inter-institutional coordination.

‘The most important thing for the public right now is the tangible presence of the state,’ Dave said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Prabowo Welcomed by Macron with Warm Embrace at Elysee Palace

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was warmly embraced by French President Emmanuel Macron upon arriving at the Elysee Palace in Paris on Thursday local time during a state visit.

In a live stream monitored from Jakarta Thursday evening, President Prabowo immediately walked to shake hands with Macron.

The two then embraced warmly before proceeding to greet French First Lady Brigitte Macron, who greeted with a handshake. President Prabowo subsequently continued conversations with Brigitte Macron.
