Politics: From Prabowo's Return to Indonesia to Garibaldi Carrier Crew Preparations
Jakarta — Several events related to politics and political figures occurred throughout Friday, 27 February. These included the return of President Prabowo Subianto to Indonesia following his state visits and preparations for the crew of the Giuseppe Garibaldi aircraft carrier.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka welcomed President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival at the TNI Air Force Base Halim Perdanakusuma in Jakarta on Friday. The Head of State had just completed a series of official working visits to the United States, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan directly conveyed his country’s commitment to increase investment in Indonesia. This was expressed during a bilateral meeting between President Prabowo and President MBZ at Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, 26 February (local time).
President Prabowo held a bilateral meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi as part of his working visit to strengthen Indonesia’s increasingly robust strategic partnership with the UAE in recent years.
A member of the DPR Commission II, Azis Subekti, stated that the narrative separating the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme from children’s education is misguided, as it presents two interests that are actually aligned. Such a narrative falsely suggests the nation must choose between nourishment and knowledge, between body and mind. However, education fundamentally collapses when children are allowed to study whilst hungry.
The Head of the Defence Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the Defence Ministry Secretariat, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, stated that approximately 100 Indonesian Navy personnel will be sent to Italy for training before becoming crew members of the Giuseppe Garibaldi aircraft carrier. Around 100 personnel are planned to undergo training in Italy, including direct training aboard the vessel during its voyage from Italy to Indonesia, according to Rico’s confirmation to ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.
