Politicians must uphold the law

Prophet Muhammad was a democrat. He accommodated the needs of
his close friends. He consulted them before making decisions and
never imposed his will.

Over the last three years, we have witnessed various shocking
events.
* Manipulation by the political elite to serve the interests of
certain groups.
* Mass brutality, wanton destruction and arson.
* Rifts, and threats of disintegration and declaration of a state
of emergency.

These reflect dissatisfaction and vengeance, which are not
based on rational thinking and have no regard for the law.

These events have resulted in uncertainties. Politicians
within and outside the government should set a good example to
the general public by upholding the law.

Democracy is a system of administration validated by public
consent. In a democratic society, law is basically the limit to
freedom, to which every citizen is entitled. In the absence of
effective laws, there will be chaos and loose social norms,
making it hard to distinguish good from evil. And we will become
a stranger to social order and harmony.
