Political roundup: VP's working visit, DPR responds to student demands

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Various national events coloured ANTARA’s news channel on Friday (19/6), ranging from Vice President Gibran Rakabuming’s working visit in Gorontalo and the commitment to revitalise schools in the frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) regions, to President Prabowo Subianto’s support for strengthening the Indonesian national football team, and the House of Representatives’ (DPR) response to student demands regarding energy issues and the free nutritious meal programme.

The Vice President arrived in Gorontalo on Friday at around 11.25 WITA, marking the start of a working visit to open the XVII National Farmers and Fishers Week (PENAS) in 2026 and to inspect the Bulango Ulu Dam.

President Prabowo Subianto received the head coach of the Indonesian senior men’s national football team, John Herdman, along with the Minister of Youth and Sports who is also the General Chair of PSSI, Erick Thohir, at his residence at the Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday afternoon. The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir stated that President Prabowo Subianto fully supports the naturalisation process of players to strengthen the Indonesian national football team.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, contacted the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, and the Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Nanik S. Deyang, while receiving an audience with students demonstrating at the parliament complex in Jakarta on Friday, regarding a number of their demands.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming affirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating the revitalisation of schools in the frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) regions while inspecting SD Wolomoni, Niowula Village, Detusoko District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
