Jakarta (ANTARA) - A variety of political events took place on Wednesday (8 July), ranging from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Prambanan Temple to a meeting between the leadership of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Constitutional Court on a memorandum of understanding for synergy in constitutional interpretation. - Prabowo and Modi launch Indonesia-India collaboration to restore Prambanan
President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched an Indonesia-India collaboration for the conservation of the cultural heritage of Prambanan Temple within the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park area in Yogyakarta on Wednesday afternoon.
The collaboration was symbolically launched as President Prabowo and PM Modi unveiled a cloth covering a plaque inscribed with the words “Indonesia-India Collaborative Cultural Heritage Conservation for Prambanan Temple”.
- MPR and Constitutional Court sign memorandum of understanding on synergy in constitutional interpretation
The People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Constitutional Court signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning synergy in the interpretation of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani said the MoU was signed during a meeting between the MPR leadership and all constitutional judges at the Constitutional Court building in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon.
- Megawati arrives in Dili for official visit to Timor-Leste
Indonesia’s fifth president and General Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri, arrived at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili at 4.10pm local time on Wednesday for an official visit to Timor-Leste.
According to a written statement from PDIP received in Jakarta on Wednesday, Megawati’s arrival was welcomed by the Director General of Protocol Affairs from Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Josefina Tilman, who also accompanied Megawati down to the airport apron.
- Prabowo receives Thaksin and Paetongtarn Shinawatra at Kertanegara
President Prabowo Subianto received Thailand’s Prime Minister from 2001 to 2006, Thaksin Shinawatra, together with his family, including his daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thailand’s Prime Minister from 2024 to 2025, at his private residence on Kertanegara Street, Jakarta, on Wednesday evening.
Several photographs of the meeting were shared by the Cabinet Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta on Wednesday, along with a description of the gathering as “warm and full of familiarity”.
- Bandung city government threatens civil servants with dishonourable dismissal over online gambling involvement
The Bandung city government has threatened strict sanctions, up to dishonourable dismissal (PTDH), against civil servants (ASN) proven to be involved in online gambling practices, particularly if they play a role in organising or mobilising gambling activities.
“If it’s only once or twice and still at the stage of a minor violation, there are naturally mechanisms for guidance and warnings. But if it has reached the point of organising or mobilising gambling practices, we will take firm action immediately. They can be dismissed dishonourably,” said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan in Bandung on Wednesday.
