Political Roundup: Modi Visits Prambanan, MPR-MK Sign MoU, Megawati in Timor-Leste

A number of important political events took place on Wednesday. President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched an Indonesia-India collaboration for the conservation of the Prambanan Temple at the temple’s tourist park in Yogyakarta. The symbolic launch was marked by the two leaders unveiling a plaque. In a separate event, the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Constitutional Court (MK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to synergise efforts in interpreting the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani stated that the MoU was signed during a meeting between MPR leaders and all constitutional justices at the MK Building in Jakarta. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s fifth President and PDIP Chairwoman, Megawati Soekarnoputri, arrived at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili for an official visit to Timor-Leste. President Prabowo Subianto also received former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his daughter, current Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara in Jakarta. The meeting was described as warm and cordial. In domestic news, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan warned that civil servants (ASN) involved in online gambling could face dishonourable discharge, particularly if they are found to be organising or promoting such activities.
