President Prabowo Subianto departed for Sumatra to directly inspect forest and land fire handling in Riau, Jambi and South Sumatra. Head of the Air Force Information Service Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana said the crew were safe and the Sukhoi Su-30 MK2 fighter aircraft was in safe condition after an incident on the runway area of Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. “The aircraft and all crew are in safe condition. The aircraft was then towed to the maintenance hangar for inspection and prepared for the next test,” he said in a press release received in Makassar on Monday.
President Prabowo Subianto emphasised a ban on anyone clearing land by burning and asked officials to strengthen education and law enforcement to prevent forest and land fires. “Explain that burning land is strictly prohibited,” said President Prabowo while chairing a limited meeting on forest and land fire handling at the Riau Province Forward Post in Pekanbaru on Monday.
