Wakil Ketua MPR Eddy Soeparno has proposed three priorities for strengthening national energy resilience, covering short-term to long-term measures. In a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday, he said the short-term priorities include strengthening national refinery capacity, accelerating electrification, and implementing energy substitution to reduce import dependency. Eddy also stated that the fire at the Jatiwaringin landfill in Tangerang, Banten, underscores the importance of accelerating the national waste management programme through waste-to-energy mechanisms. Separately, Wakil Ketua MPR Edhie Baskoro ‘Ibas’ Yudhoyono encouraged public awareness in processing waste to preserve environmental sustainability, emphasising that waste management is not just a cleanliness issue but a collective movement to safeguard the environment, public health, and the economy. Former General Manager of Perum LKBN ANTARA Asro Kamal Rokan confirmed that Press Council Honourary Board member Diapari Sibatangkayu Harahap passed away on Saturday at around 10.40 WIB at the Police Hospital in Jakarta.
