In contrast to their promises during the last general election, political parties are not doing much to help the victims of the recent floods.

It is pathetic to hear them say that even coming to the flooded locations and visiting the victims might be misinterpreted as a political campaign.

If they are sincere in helping the poor, then they should be afraid of no one, except God, who knows the real truth. Not caring about the fate of the poor is regarded as a sin in any religion.

I do not think the recipients would mind receiving donations from political parties, because foremost on their mind is the assistance and attention they urgently need.

Therefore, I urge political parties to stop making up reasons and start donating, with or without political labels.
