Political observer praises Teddy: Working without excessive image-building
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political observer Hendri Satrio considers Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya to be a figure within President Prabowo Subianto’s circle who works without building up too much of a public image.
“Teddy tends to appear precisely when the government needs a problem resolved or an issue explained,” said Hensa, as he is familiarly known, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Monday.
He suggested that the President should choose more ministers who have a working style similar to Teddy’s.
“He genuinely works; there isn’t much image-building in what he does. What is visible is that he is busy working, solving problems, and when the government needs someone to step forward and provide an explanation, he is there,” he said.
The founder of the KedaiKOPI survey institute said the impression of Teddy as a hard-working figure has even come up in conversations among the younger generation.
According to him, a number of political figures today often receive certain labels from Gen Z based on the image attached to them in the public sphere.
“I find this interesting, because even Gen Z recognise that the symbol of someone busy at work in today’s government is Teddy,” Hensa said.
“If even Gen Z see Teddy as a symbol of a hard-working person, it means a public perception has genuinely formed from what they have observed all this time,” he said.
Hensa also assessed that Teddy is one of the figures in President Prabowo’s circle who frequently appears to give explanations and shields the administration when problems arise that should have been explained by the relevant ministry.
He cited how Teddy has several times had to provide explanations on issues that actually fall within the domain of other ministries.
For that reason, he believes the President needs more aides who dare to take on communication responsibilities and work to ensure that the President does not continually bear the political burden of various government problems alone.
“Perhaps for him, what matters is that Prabowo is safe. So, yes, Prabowo should have even more ministers like Teddy. People who, when there is work to be done, get on with it; when there is a problem, step forward, rather than being busy protecting their own image,” Hensa said.
