Politeknik Tempo Graduates 25 Students, Many Already Employed

Politeknik Tempo held its second graduation ceremony on Saturday, 12 July 2025, at the National Library Auditorium in Central Jakarta. A total of 25 students from the Media Production, Media Design, and International Marketing Management study programmes were officially conferred with applied bachelor’s degrees during the open senate session.

The Director of Politeknik Tempo, Shalfi Andri, noted that a significant portion of the graduates had secured employment even before officially receiving their degrees, while the remainder are currently undertaking internship programmes. “Some graduates are even undergoing internship processes in various national companies,” Shalfi stated in his address.

However, Shalfi emphasised that employment is not the sole metric of educational success, advising graduates that education does not end at graduation but continues throughout life.

During the ceremony, the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, delivered a scientific oration regarding employment opportunities within the creative industry. Arif highlighted the high demand for skilled labour in the media and creative sectors, which continue to expand alongside rapid digital technology advancements.

Nevertheless, Arif pointed out the slow pace of domestic technological innovation. “The main problem in Indonesia today is that technological innovation remains slow compared to other nations,” said the former Rector of IPB University.

Consequently, Arif urged the public to accelerate innovation, particularly as Indonesia enters its demographic bonus period. He revealed that Indonesia’s productive-age population is the largest in Southeast Asia, with the dependency ratio projected to reach a low of 46.9 per cent during the 2028–2031 period.

He added that a nation’s progress is always supported by the innovation of its people, citing China’s ability to produce BYD electric vehicles to challenge Tesla’s dominance as an example of a robust innovation ecosystem. Arif expressed optimism that Indonesia can capitalise on these opportunities if the younger generation possesses the right mindset, including a willingness to learn, adaptability, and persistence in innovation.

During this graduation, Politeknik Tempo also recognised the top graduates from each study programme: Maya Syafira Haryanti (Media Design), Laila Rahmatillah (International Marketing Management), and Ariadne Khatarina Moniaga (Media Production).
