Policeman, robber killed

JAKARTA: A traffic police officer was killed after shooting to death one of several robbers who were robbing public minivan passengers on Tuesday morning.

Second. Adj. Insp. Roni Toto S was riding his motorcycle when he saw what was happening on the minivan, which was traveling along Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai, East Jakarta.

An eyewitness said that Toto chased the minivan and when it stopped, the robbers got out of the vehicle and attacked him. One of them stabbed the policeman repeatedly, and Toto shot him. Both the robber and Toto died at the scene.
