Policeman killed in clash in Nabire

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya (JP): A policeman was shot dead in Nabire, Irian Jaya, in a clash between members of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and local police on Sunday morning.

No information was available on what triggered the clash, Antara reported.

Spokesman for the Irian Jaya Police, Comr. Zulkifli AR, said he could not yet confirm the incident.

"I have not received an official report from Nabire. I have to check," he told the news agency.
