Police Wife from Dompu Arrested in Bima for Methamphetamine Trafficking
The Bima Resort Police in West Nusa Tenggara have arrested a woman with the initials EES (39), a member of the Bhayangkari from the Dompu Police, in connection with the possession of methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested at her home in Sandue Village, Sanggar District, Bima Regency, with a quantity of evidence supporting allegations of illicit drug trafficking.
Bima Police Chief AKBP Muh. Anton Bhayangkara Gaisar revealed that the arrest took place on Sunday, 7 June. During the search, officers found methamphetamine with a gross weight of 5.26 grammes hidden in a bag inside a wardrobe in the suspect’s bedroom.
“From the arrest of this Bhayangkari member from the Dompu Police, we seized evidence of narcotics in the form of crystal meth with a gross weight of 5.26 grammes,” stated Anton in Bima on Thursday, 11 June.
In addition to the methamphetamine, the police also secured other evidence including empty plastic clips, a glass cylinder, sharpened straws, a bong lid, a mobile phone, and cash totalling Rp22 million, which is strongly suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. Officers also discovered 20 tablets of tramadol at the scene.
Based on the initial examination, EES has admitted ownership of the illicit substances. She stated that the methamphetamine was obtained from a person with the initials EL through a ‘dead drop’ system at a predetermined location.
Regarding the suspect’s status as the wife of a police officer, Anton explained that investigators are looking into the possible involvement of her husband. However, preliminary information from witnesses and the local village head suggests the couple had not been living together for a long time.
“Investigators will still take a statement from the suspect’s husband to ascertain whether or not he was involved in the alleged methamphetamine trafficking,” the Police Chief stressed.
Currently, EES and all the evidence have been secured at the Bima Police Narcotics Unit office to undergo further legal proceedings. The suspect faces charges under Article 114 paragraph (1) of Indonesian Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
