Police Warn High School Students to Guard Against Juvenile Delinquency

Sidoarjo police officials provided intensive guidance to hundreds of new students at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 (Smamda) Sidoarjo in the KH AR Fachruddin Hall on Monday (20/7). The initiative aims to fortify students against the threat of juvenile delinquency, ranging from online gambling to the dangers of narcotics. Presenting the material were Sidoarjo Deputy Police Chief AKBP Mohammad Zainur Rofik, Head of the Narcotics Unit Kompol Dwi Gastimur Wanto, and Deputy Head of the Intelligence and Security Unit AKP Agung Priyanto. In his address, AKBP Mohammad Zainur Rofik highlighted the rising number of minors facing legal action due to their involvement in negative ecosystems, such as gaming addiction, pornography, gambling, drug abuse, and street brawls. ‘Many underage children have been forced into arrests. We remind them not to let euphoria go too far and trigger friction with residents or other groups, like joining motorcycle gangs or engaging in martial arts school rivalries,’ he said. He also stressed the importance of discipline, integrity, honesty, and respecting teachers and peers. He added that young people must possess strong idealism to determine their future and achieve their aspirations. At the same event, the Head of the Narcotics Unit, Kompol Dwi Gastimur, issued a stern warning about the dangers of illicit drug trafficking among students. He noted that the type of drug most commonly abused by teenagers is the ‘double Y’ pill. ‘Never try drugs, not even once. There is absolutely no good in them. Do not, just because you want to look tough or be accepted in a community, end up harming yourself and destroying your family’s future,’ he asserted. Through this socialisation, the Sidoarjo Police hope the new Smamda students will focus on academic activities and avoid all forms of legal violations for a better future.
