Police wage war on gambling

SEMARANG: Police said yesterday that they will take firm
measures against gambling in the Central Java capital city and
those caught in red handed will be processed according to the.

Maj. Gen. Harimas AS, chief of the Central Java police, said
in a ceremony at Meteseh village near here that the police will
never compromise with gamblers and said he also suspected some
gamblers of operating at cock fights.

Some amusement centers also operate games, which the police
suspect are covert gambling dens, he said as quoted by the Antara
news agency.

"I have instructed officers to continue monitoring gambling
