Police Use DNA to Identify Individuals Who Entered Weapons Storage Room at South Jakarta Private School

Police are identifying individuals who entered or had contact with a room suspected of being a weapons storage area at a school in South Jakarta through DNA test samples.

“DNA from three rooms has all been sampled, with the aim of checking who entered or who has been contaminated inside those three rooms,” said Ipda Alpino de Tech, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at the South Jakarta Metro Police, in Jakarta on Monday.

Alpino said officers have taken all DNA samples from the three rooms to determine who had been present or contaminated inside them.

The three rooms are the former chairman of the foundation’s office, the secretary’s office, and the foundation’s facilities and infrastructure office.

According to him, the examination is part of the investigation process to determine who entered the weapons storage room.

Alpino also corrected the description of the location as a bunker. According to him, the room is not a bunker, but rather a basement connected to other rooms.

“Actually it is not a bunker, it is actually a basement that is connected to the room. So the basement has stairs connecting it to the room, and that has also been checked,” he said.

Police have also examined the basement area to ensure whether there were any other findings. However, Alpino said there were no findings at the location referred to as a bunker.

In addition to examining the rooms, police also checked for the presence of surveillance cameras or CCTV at the location. As a result, no CCTV cameras were found in the area.

Meanwhile, after the examination and crime scene investigation were completed, the foundation has been allowed to resume activities at the school after it was declared sterile.

“Earlier we confirmed with the acting chairman of the foundation and their legal counsel, and the foundation stated that it was sufficient and they could resume their activities,” he said.

The National Police Forensic Laboratory Centre team took 30 items from the crime scene investigation at the school where airsoft guns were found in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.
