Police urged to question Said Aqil
BANDUNG, West Java: Pressures are mounting for the police to question Minister of Religious Affairs Said Aqil Munawar over the excavations at the Batu Tulis archeological site.
Speaking during a hearing with the West Java Police deputy chief Brig. Gen. Deddy S. Komaruddin, a group of provincial councillors said that the minister had violated articles 26 and 27 of Law No. 5/1992 on Cultural Conservation as he was the one who ordered the excavations at the site, which is located in Bogor.
Meanwhile, Deddy said that the police would forward the proposal to the National Police.
"We are currently questioning two experts from the University of Indonesia, and have already questioned four experts and psychics. After that, we will ask for the President's approval to question the minister," he said. --JP
