Police Urged to Exhume Victim of Fatal Beating in Bantul

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has urged law enforcement authorities to exhume the body of a 16-year-old boy with the initials I, who was a victim of a fatal beating in Bantul, DI Yogyakarta.

“We hope that the police will carry out an exhumation because the victim has not been autopsied. A deceased child has the right to clarity on the cause of death,” said KPAI member Diyah Puspitarini when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

KPAI has also requested that the police investigate allegations of kidnapping, premeditated murder, including the suspected use of weapons in this case.

“There is an element of kidnapping in this case. Then there is an element of premeditated murder, criminal elements, including the use of weapons. KPAI also hopes for the application of articles from the Sexual Violence Crime Law, as well as articles on premeditated murder,” said Diyah Puspitarini.

“Because in several similar incidents (beatings) in the Bantul area, the handling has been somewhat slow,” said Diyah Puspitarini.

Previously, a 16-year-old boy with the initials I became a victim of a beating that resulted in his death in Bantul, DI Yogyakarta.

After experiencing the assault, I underwent medical treatment for nearly a week.

However, he ultimately took his last breath.

Then two individuals took the victim to the back yard of one of the state senior high schools in Bantul.

The victim is then suspected to have been subjected to a beating.

The number of perpetrators is believed to be ten people, consisting of adults and minors.

To date, Bantul Police have named two suspects, with the initials BLP (18) and YP (21), and have detained them.

Police suspect that this assault case is motivated by inter-gang issues.
