Bandung, West Java — Bandung Police Headquarters (Polresta Bandung) has urged travellers and the general public to remain vigilant and exercise caution when passing through the Nagreg route in Bandung Regency, given the extreme weather conditions such as heavy rainfall and storms that have been occurring recently.

During Saturday’s exodus traffic, the Nagreg area experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, which caused several tree branches to fall and made roads particularly slippery, especially on the downhill sections of the Nagreg Ring Road.

“We have experienced two instances of heavy rain in Nagreg today. Therefore, we are asking the public to exercise caution because there is a risk of fallen trees and accidents, particularly on downhill sections. This is a high-risk situation, so we hope the public will be careful,” said Bandung Police Headquarters Commander Brigadier General Aldi Subartono in Bandung, West Java, on Saturday.

At Nagreg itself, Aldi explained that Bandung Police Headquarters has established an integrated command post at KM 36, which serves as the main command and monitoring centre, equipped with a medical team including ambulances and towing services to anticipate any undesirable incidents during the exodus and return traffic periods.

The presence of the integrated post at Nagreg differs from previous years when it was established in Cileunyi, Bandung Regency, in order to improve effectiveness, as Nagreg is a critical point during the exodus and return traffic periods.

In addition to the integrated post, there are other posts as a monitoring and precautionary measure for various potential situations, starting from the Cileunyi Toll Gate to anticipate vehicle congestion resulting from modal shifts among travellers.

Subsequently, a post has been established in Cimanggung, Sumedang, which is also used to regulate traffic density, as it is a point where travellers board and alight and shift transport modes.

Furthermore, a post has been set up in Cikaledong, Nagreg Ring Road, to anticipate congestion caused by the road’s uphill contours and to manage the direction of vehicle flow, as it is a junction point towards the Limbangan area in Garut.

Bandung Police Headquarters has established these posts equipped with medical personnel, ambulances, towing services, and security personnel from the Armed Forces and other agencies to anticipate various possible situations.

“Various preparations, including those at the posts, ensure we are ready to immediately respond to the location to provide assistance and implement the necessary traffic management measures in accordance with the incidents that occur,” said Aldi.
