Police, along with relevant agencies, are preparing a traffic engineering plan in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta. The traffic management is being readied ahead of the increase in goods transportation activity following the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday period.

This step was discussed in a cross-sectoral coordination meeting held at the Nusantara Pura Passenger Terminal on Thursday (26/3/2026). The meeting addressed the mapping of potential vehicle density, particularly three-axle trucks, ahead of the end of the goods transport operational restriction period.

The meeting was also attended by the North Jakarta City Government, port authorities, port operators, police, as well as stakeholders in the logistics and transportation sectors. Police hope that collaboration can ensure optimal goods distribution activities with measured traffic management.

Director of Traffic for Metro Jaya Police, Komarudin, stated that the increase in activity in the port area is something that has been anticipated. He mentioned that various traffic regulation scenarios have been prepared.

“We also inform the public that activities at Tanjung Priok Port in the near future will experience a very significant increase, considering that the 29th is the deadline for the Joint Decree of 3 Ministers regarding the restriction on operations of three-axle vehicles,” he said.

He stated that the police have prepared traffic engineering measures that will be implemented situationally. He noted that the traffic engineering will adjust to the conditions on the ground.

“For that, we will implement various patterns of traffic engineering as well as discretionary policies according to the dynamics on the ground,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm and not worry about potential congestion. Police assure that all policies implemented aim to maintain smooth traffic flow.

Road users are also expected to manage their travel times and routes. He advised residents to avoid access to the Tanjung Priok Port area during certain hours.
