Police Urge Public Not to Light Firecrackers on the Night of Takbiran
JAKARTA - Indonesian police have urged the public not to light firecrackers ahead of the night of Takbiran in order to maintain safety and public order.
In addition, the public is asked to avoid risky activities on the roads, including using vehicles for purposes they are not intended for.
Police also reminded the public to be wary of potential crowds at shopping centres, tourist destinations, and places of worship.
“The public is expected to plan their activities well, avoid crowds, and comply with all applicable rules to maintain security and order together,” he said.
Furthermore, he reminded the public that if they need assistance, they can contact the police.
“For the public who need assistance or wish to report emergency situations, they can contact the police service at number 110, which is active 24 hours,” he stated.
“Specifically to the public in the Bali Regional Police area, they are urged to continue maintaining tolerance between religious communities, considering the momentum of Eid al-Fitr which is close to Nyepi Day, so that the situation remains safe and harmonious,” explained Jansen.
