Police Urge May Day Labour Demonstrators to Protect Public Facilities

We also urge our labour brothers and all components carrying out the expression of opinions not to damage public facilities,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, after the troop assembly at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).

The public participating in the action is also asked to maintain order and respect the rights of others. The police will escort the expression of the workers’ aspirations so that it can proceed as planned.

“We are all together to protect public facilities; these are enjoyed by the entire community. We also urge maintaining order because there are others’ rights to continue their activities. We all respect those things,” he stated.

“Finally, we all want to escort so that the aspirations of our labour brothers can be conveyed well, the desired goals can be achieved with the hoped-for expectations,” he added.

This afternoon, there will be a labour action in front of the DPR RI Building in Jakarta. Several labour representatives will also be directly received by the DPR RI leadership.

“This afternoon, representatives from the DPR RI will receive the representatives from the action masses of our labour brothers,” he said.
