JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Director of Law Enforcement (Dirgakkum) of the Indonesian Traffic Police’s Directorate General of Traffic (Korlantas Polri), Brigadier General Faizal, has urged mudik travellers not to park on the shoulder of toll roads when rest areas are full. Faizal said those wanting to rest would be better off leaving the toll road, or seeking the next rest area. “So one of the measures we are taking, besides asking them to proceed to the next rest area, we also ask them to exit the toll road first. Exit, then search for a rest area outside or in the areas around the toll road,” Faizal said when met at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March 2026). “Because the toll road itself has already implemented a policy that entry taps or perhaps transactions will no longer occur. Right, so that is one of the measures being taken,” he added. Faizal also said the police have asked rest areas Type A and B to expand parking spaces and toilets. In addition, he said the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) at rest areas will also be increased, “because it is not impossible that this year many mudik travellers will use electric vehicles,” Faizal noted.
