Police urge Bhabinkamtibmas to strengthen synergy with residents in Tangerang
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Tangerang City Metro Police Resort (Polres Metro Tangerang Kota) has asked all Bhayangkara Community Security and Order Supervisors (Bhabinkamtibmas) in the area to continue strengthening synergy with the community in order to maintain orderly conditions.
“Although there are many leadership programmes that must be carried out, never forget the core duties such as the door-to-door system (DDS), problem solving and intelligence reports. Those are the main strengths of Bhabinkamtibmas in the midst of the community,” said the Chief of Tangerang City Metro Police, Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday.
Jauhari emphasised that Bhabinkamtibmas officers are the spearhead of the National Police (Polri) who come into direct contact with residents.
“Therefore, core service duties must not be neglected, even though personnel are currently also faced with various priority programmes from the leadership,” he said.
He also asked his ranks to be more alert to the potential for social unrest and criminal activity in their respective areas of guidance, such as online gambling and motorcycle theft (curanmor).
According to Jauhari, every officer must be aware of developments in their area quickly and report them through the chain of command for early detection purposes.
“Do not let me learn of an incident from another agency or from superiors instead. Build good communication with the community and report every development promptly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jauhari also reminded all personnel to always maintain integrity and avoid any form of misconduct that could damage the image of the police institution.
He noted that the Polri leadership has worked hard to build public trust through various community-oriented programmes, such as Jaga Jakarta On The Spot and Friday Counselling (Jumat Curhat).
“Do not let any member commit violations that would diminish the dignity of the Polri institution. Stay spirited, carry out your duties with full responsibility and professionalism,” Jauhari said.
The briefing session was also attended by the Head of the Community Guidance Unit (Kasat Binmas), Assistant Commissioner Rachmad Hariyanto, senior officials of the Tangerang City Metro Police, as well as all Community Guidance Officers, unit heads and Bhabinkamtibmas officers within the jurisdiction of Tangerang City.
