SEMARANG, Central Java: The Central Java Provincial Police
will deploy over 17,000 police officers to ensure the safety of
travelers and residents over the Idul Fitri festivities, a top
police officer said here on Friday.
They will work in shifts in police stations, police posts and
on the streets throughout the province, said Central Java Police
chief Insp. Gen. Chaerul Rasyid.
Some 4.5 million travelers are expected to traverse the roads
of Central Java province over the holiday. -- JP
