Police Undercover Operation Uncovers Sale of Dozens of Airguns at Tanjung Priok Port

A man with the initials MF was arrested with dozens of illegal airguns as evidence. Police apprehended the suspect after an undercover buy operation. “Officers conducted an investigation and undercover buy, successfully securing a suspect who was about to carry out a transaction in the Tanjung Priok Port area,” stated the Tanjung Priok Port Police on Thursday (25/6/2026). Officers went undercover by ordering a non-blowback black WG 321 type airgun, Cal. 6mm, powered by CO2. On Wednesday (6/5), communication resumed and an agreement was made to conduct a direct transaction at a predetermined location on Jalan Panaitan, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. The suspect arrived at the agreed location for the transaction on Wednesday (6/5) at 9:00 PM Western Indonesia Time. Officers immediately arrested the suspect, MF. During a search, an airgun type weapon carried by the suspect was found. Police later discovered additional evidence at the suspect’s rented accommodation in the Jati Cempaka area, Pondok Gede, Bekasi City. Unit III of the Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested MF after receiving a tip-off from the public regarding the trade of airsoft guns via the WhatsApp messaging application on Tuesday (5/5). Police confiscated other airgun-related components being traded by MF. “As a result of the development, officers successfully secured 22 airguns, 88 packs of steel pellets (gotri), 26 magazines, and 300 boxes of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas canisters,” the police said. All of the evidence is suspected of being traded without a licence and has been secured for further investigation. MF is suspected of having been in the illegal firearms business for more than a year. “This is a case of illegal airgun possession and distribution, which is suspected to have been ongoing since 2023,” the police stated.
