The Bekasi City Metro Police have uncovered two additional Instagram accounts as part of an ongoing investigation into the mobilisation of students during protests that resulted in riots. Investigators are currently examining the activities of these two accounts within social media groups and their connection to the ongoing case.

The two accounts are managed by three individuals, all of whom are currently students. One account is managed by two students, while the other is managed by a single student. Their statements are being cross-referenced with digital data to clarify their respective roles.

Kompol Verdika Bagus Prasottya, Head of Criminal Investigation at Bekasi City Metro Police, explained that the investigation is focused on tracing the link between conversations within social media groups and activities on the ground.

“We are investigating how the invitations were delivered, who forwarded them, and how the recipients responded. Each person may have a different role, so we must match their statements with the evidence obtained,” he said.

Verdika emphasised that the investigation will not stop with these two accounts. The authorities will continue to trace other accounts used to mobilise students to engage in riots, including those who directed or facilitated the actions.
