Police uncover trillions of rupiah illegal fundraising masquerading as a cooperative
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java Police’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation has uncovered a criminal act of illegally mobilising funds under the guise of the Bahana Lintas Nusantara Cooperative (BLN), with a fund turnover of Rp4.6 trillion. The Director of Special Criminal Investigation of Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Djoko Julianto, in Semarang on Thursday, said the number of victims in this illegal practice reached tens of thousands from across Indonesia. He stated the investigation was based on reports from victims in various regencies in Central Java. According to him, based on the investigation, the alleged mobilisation of public funds has been conducted from 2018 until 2025 through various savings programmes promising high returns. “The programmes offered are enticing and promise large profits in a short time,” he said. In handling the case, he noted, two individuals have been named as suspects, namely the Chairperson of the Bahana Lintas Nusantara Cooperative, NNP (54), and the Head of the Bahana Lintas Nusantara Kota Salatiga Branch, D (55). He explained that the number of victims is estimated at 41,000 people spread across various regions. Meanwhile, from the Rp4.6 trillion money turnover, there were 160,000 financial transactions. For their actions, the suspects face Article 607 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning money laundering.
