Police Uncover Tramadol Sales Disguised as Grocery Shop in West Jakarta

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man with the initials M, alias N, in Semanan Urban Village, Kalideres District, West Jakarta. M was arrested for selling hard drugs without a distribution permit.

Kalideres Police Chief Commissioner Rihold said the case came to light following a tip-off from members of the public about the free sale of hard drugs in the vicinity of the location.

“Acting on that information, members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit immediately conducted an investigation and visited the location. During the inspection, officers found a man selling hard drugs without any authority or licence as required under prevailing regulations,” he said on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

Police then searched the grocery kiosk. During the search, officers seized dozens of pills, a mobile phone and cash.

“As a result of the search inside the shop, officers found and seized 88 Tramadol hard-drug tablets stored in a clothes cabinet. In addition, Rp 4,698,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the sale of the hard drugs, was secured, along with one mobile phone believed to have been used to support the sales activity,” he explained.

The suspect was then taken to the police station for further questioning, together with all the secured evidence.

“For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph 2 or Article 436 paragraph 2 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2023 on Health,” he concluded.
