Police Uncover Suspected Child Prostitution Ring in Daan Mogot
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have uncovered an alleged practice of female child prostitution in the Jalan Daan Mogot area, North Kedoya, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta.
The Head of the PPA/PPO Unit of the West Metro Jakarta Police Resort, Kompol Nunu Suparmi, stated that the disclosure was carried out in the early hours of Saturday (9/5) after receiving information about suspected exploitation of women at the location.
“We secured 19 women who are suspected to be victims of exploitation in prostitution practices disguised as karaoke services and nightlife companions,” Nunu said when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Nunu mentioned that two of the secured women are known to be minors, with initials S (17) and F (16).
Currently, the two children have been taken to a child safe house to receive protection and assistance.
Meanwhile, investigators from the PPA and PPO Unit of the West Metro Jakarta Police Resort are continuing to deepen and expand investigations related to the alleged criminal acts of child exploitation and prostitution.
Police are also examining parties suspected of being involved in the management or practice of exploitation at the said nightlife venue.
