Police Uncover New Facts in Reconstruction of Alleged Burning of Three Islamic Students in Lombok
Police have uncovered new facts during a reconstruction of the case involving the alleged burning of three students at the Rosudatussaulatiyah Al Ibrahimy Islamic Boarding School in Aik Darek Village, Batukliang District, Central Lombok, on Wednesday (29/7/2026). During the reconstruction, which re-enacted more than 50 scenes, investigators discovered actions that placed the victims in a dangerous situation, causing them to be burned.
The Director of the Women and Children Protection Directorate of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Ni Made Pujewati, stated that the findings were one of the results of the reconstruction held as part of the investigation process with the Central Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The reconstruction also involved public prosecutors and was witnessed by legal counsel to clarify the legal facts of the case.
“Today, we, the joint investigators from the Women and Children Protection Directorate and the Central Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit, conducted a reconstruction as part of the investigation process to uncover the facts of the incident,” Pujewati said after the reconstruction. According to Pujewati, investigators re-enacted more than 50 scenes to match the sequence of events based on the investigation results. This stage is also an important part before the case file is handed over to the public prosecutor for further legal proceedings.
“In today’s reconstruction, more than 50 scenes were re-enacted,” she said. Pujewati stated that from the reconstruction, investigators found several new facts that strengthen the criminal allegations. One of them relates to actions that placed the children in a dangerous situation, causing them to be burned. “There are several new facts we found from this reconstruction, namely the act of placing children in a situation that caused them to be burned,” she stressed.
In investigating the case, Pujewati continued, the police have examined 24 witnesses and sought statements from eight experts from various disciplines to strengthen the evidence. “In this investigation, we have presented 24 witnesses, including eight experts who provided statements regarding the incident,” she said.
The reconstruction began around 1:00 p.m. local time. It was attended by investigators from the Central Lombok Police, NTB Regional Police, the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office, and the Central Lombok District Prosecutor’s Office. Also present were the legal counsel for the head of the boarding school, the Mataram Child Protection Agency, Hotman 911, and the legal counsel for the child suspect, MR.
