Bogor - Police Commissioner Rio Wahyu Anggoro, head of Bogor City Police Station, stated on Monday at the station that the suspect, identified as MF (26), was arrested within 24 hours after police received the report of the victim’s discovery on Saturday, May 23, in the early morning. ‘Thank God, we found the suspect at 7 AM WIB on the Cisumdawu Toll Road while he was heading to Garut,’ Rio said when announcing the case resolution. He explained that the victim and suspect were schoolmates at a vocational high school in Bogor Regency. After a long period of no communication, the suspect reconnected with the victim via social media direct message, leading to their meeting on May 2, 2026. According to Rio, the suspect admitted to being upset after the victim mentioned his family’s condition during the meeting. Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Bogor City Police Station, Assistant Commissioner Bagus Azil Lesmana Putra, said the suspect invited the victim to meet again on Friday, May 22, under the pretence of having coffee in Kemang, Bogor Regency. Subsequently, the victim was taken for a meal before being driven around in her own Toyota Yaris to a secluded area near Pakansari Stadium. ‘Execution was carried out inside the vehicle,’ Bagus said. The suspect, who had prepared a machete and a tie, then strangled the victim with the tie until she lost consciousness. Bagus stated that the machete was not used as the victim had already become weak from being strangled. After the victim lost consciousness, the suspect drove around for several hours, unsure of where to take her. While passing through the Yasmin area and Jalan Sholeh Iskandar, the suspect dumped the victim from the toll road. ‘According to the suspect’s statement, the victim moved slightly,’ Rio said. Police stated that the dumping of the victim was captured by surveillance cameras around the Yasmin Toll Road overpass. The autopsy revealed the victim suffered fractures in her back, tailbone, left arm, and bleeding at the back of her head. ‘The autopsy confirmed no sexual assault,’ Bagus said. After dumping the victim, the suspect fled towards Garut with the victim’s car, taking around Rp4 million and other personal belongings. A joint team from Bogor City Police Station’s Criminal Investigation Unit and West Java Police’s Mobile Brigade tracked the suspect via toll road CCTV footage, leading to a chase on the Cisumdawu Toll Road. Police took firm action after the suspect was reported to be uncooperative and endangering other drivers during the arrest. Police seized evidence from the suspect, including the victim’s Toyota Yaris, a machete, tie, cash, mobile phone, wallet, and victim’s identity card. The suspect faces charges of murder, premeditated murder, serious assault, and the Emergency Law regarding possession of bladed weapons, with a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment.
