Police uncover mob attack with sharp weapons in North Jakarta

A joint team from the Jatanras and Resmob units of the North Jakarta Metro Police, together with the Koja Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit, has uncovered a case of alleged mob attack and assault using sharp weapons following a brawl between youth groups in the UKA Complex area, North Tugu Village, Koja District, North Jakarta, early on Saturday (18/7).

Koja Sector Police Chief, Commissioner Andry Suharto, said on Sunday that investigators have named three suspects: ANIAA (18), AAAJ (19), and AHIP (17). The suspects were arrested on Saturday evening around 9 p.m. local time by the joint team. Several other individuals believed to be connected to the incident have also been detained for further questioning.

As part of the investigation, police seized several sharp weapons, a motorcycle, clothing, and other items related to the case. Investigators are currently examining witnesses, gathering evidence, and determining the specific role of each party involved.

The victim, identified by the initials A (16), suffered serious injuries after being mobbed and attacked with sharp weapons during the clash near the UKA Complex volleyball court in North Jakarta.

The case was uncovered based on Police Report Number: LP/B/128/VII/2026/SPKT/SEKJA/RESJU/PMJ. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a brawl invitation circulated via Instagram. One group responded to the invitation by gathering its members at a food stall before heading to the agreed location. Police believe both groups had prepared sharp weapons before the clash occurred around 3 a.m. local time. When the victim fell, he was allegedly set upon and attacked with sharp weapons by several perpetrators before they fled the scene.
