Lamongan, East Java (ANTARA) - The Criminal Investigation Unit of Lamongan Police Resort has uncovered a case of misuse of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) involving the use of official service letters in the Ngimbang and Kembangbahu sub-districts, and secured two suspects.
“Two suspects with initials AS and S have been detained. This case is the result of intensive investigations into alleged deviations in energy distribution in the local jurisdiction,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation at Lamongan Police Resort, AKP Rizky Akbar Kurniadi, in Lamongan, East Java, on Friday.
He explained that the perpetrators exploited letters from related agencies that were supposed to be used for agricultural sector needs, but were misused to hoard and resell subsidised BBM.
“This practice is alleged to have occurred from October 2025 to April 2026, with profits of around Rp250,000 per day,” he said.
In addition, the police also secured several pieces of evidence in the form of jerry cans containing BBM, modified motorcycles with additional tanks, three-wheeled vehicles, drum transport equipment, barcodes from related agencies, and one mobile phone unit.
For their actions, the two suspects are charged under Article 40 number 9 of Law Number 6 of 2023 on Job Creation as an amendment to Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 on Oil and Natural Gas.
Lamongan Police Resort urges the public not to misuse subsidised BBM and to immediately report any indications of violations so that energy distribution is on target.
