Police Uncover Illegal Hard Drug Distribution in Kalideres
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have again uncovered the illegal distribution of ‘List G’ hard drugs and psychotropic substances in the Kalideres area, West Jakarta, arresting two suspects identified as JA and SM at two different locations used as fronts for selling the medication.
Kalideres Police Chief Kompol Rihold Sihotang explained that the case came to light following public information about the free sale of hard drugs disguised behind a coffee shop and a cosmetics store.
“The suspects’ modus operandi was to sell everyday goods, but behind that they were also illegally trading hard drugs,” Rihold said when confirmed on Friday.
Based on the investigation, police took action at two different locations. The first location was in Semanan Urban Village on 13 July 2026, and the second was in Kamal Urban Village on 20 July 2026.
“From these two locations, we managed to secure suspects JA and SM along with a number of pieces of evidence,” Rihold stated.
At the first location, officers seized 75 Hexymer tablets, 19 Tramadol tablets, 6 Riklona tablets, 6 Alprazolam tablets, and cash proceeds from sales amounting to Rp230,000. Meanwhile, at the second location, police found a much larger quantity of evidence, including 1,790 Hexymer tablets, 918 Tramadol tablets, cash totalling Rp1,037,000, a transaction ledger, and mobile phones believed to have been used to support the sales activity.
“These drugs are very dangerous if misused. Their effects can cause hallucinations and have the potential to destroy the future of children and teenagers. Therefore, we will act firmly against anyone who tries to distribute them,” Rihold said.
As the case develops, investigators have also named two individuals on the wanted list, identified as AS, the alleged supplier in the first case, and BN, the alleged supplier and shop owner in the second case. Both are currently being pursued by the authorities.
Rihold stated that the Kalideres Police are committed to eradicating the circulation of illegal hard drugs in their jurisdiction, in line with directives from their leadership. He noted that these efforts are aimed at protecting the public, especially the younger generation, from the dangers of drug abuse, which can damage health, cause dependency, and potentially serve as a gateway to other criminal activities.
He also urged the public to play an active role in combating the distribution of illegal hard drugs by reporting any information to the police via the 110 hotline or directly to local officers.
“We hope that the Kalideres District can be completely free from the circulation of List G hard drugs. This is not just the police’s job, but requires the support of the entire community to keep our children safe from the dangers of drug abuse,” he said.
For their actions, the two suspects are charged under Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health and Law Number 5 of 1997 on Psychotropic Substances, and face a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
