Police Uncover Illegal Arms Trade in Priok, Seize 15 Airsoft Guns

Police have uncovered an illegal arms trade in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta, seizing more than a dozen airsoft guns and a quantity of ammunition.

The Head of Criminal Investigation for the Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKP AA Ngurah Made Pandu Prabawa, explained that the case came to light after the investigation unit received a tip-off from the public regarding the sale of airsoft guns via WhatsApp on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

The Criminal Investigation team of the Tanjung Priok Port Police then conducted an undercover operation to obtain evidence of the weapons by contacting the suspect while posing as a buyer. Officers ordered a black WG 321 ‘Non-Blowback’ type airsoft gun, calibre 6mm, powered by CO2.

On Wednesday (6/5), the team communicated further and agreed to conduct a direct transaction at a designated location on Jalan Panaitan, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. The suspect, identified as MF, arrived at the agreed location to carry out the transaction on Wednesday (6/5) evening at 21.00 WIB, where officers immediately secured him.

The suspect was interrogated on the spot, leading to the discovery of additional evidence at his rented accommodation in the Jati Cempaka area, Pondok Gede, Bekasi City. The suspect and all evidence were then taken to the Tanjung Priok Port Police for further processing.

During the search, police seized 15 airsoft guns of various types, 68 packs of gold pellets, 26 magazines, 3 CO2 canisters, 2 canister mounts, 42 trigger pins, and other items. Officers also confiscated 13 sets of shell casings, two airsoft gun gas tubes, and 11 slide parts or cocking handles, along with a set of weapon repair tools including pliers, screwdrivers, wire cutters, and air gun valve keys.

The suspect has been charged under Article 306 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which regulates firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other weapons. The suspect faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years.
