Police Uncover Gambling Dens Masquerading as Timezone Arcades in North and West Jakarta, 60 Detained

Jakarta Metropolitan Police have dismantled gambling dens operating under the guise of children’s amusement arcades, or timezones, in North Jakarta and West Jakarta. More than 60 people were detained in the operation.

“The Sub-directorate of Jatanras carried out raids on gambling crimes at two locations in the Jakarta area and detained over 60 people,” said AKBP Abdul Rahim, Head of the Jatanras Sub-directorate at Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in a statement on Saturday (13/6/2026).

The raids took place around 9.45 pm Western Indonesia Time on Wednesday (10/6), led by AKP Reza Arif Hadafi, Unit Head of Jatanras 2 at Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The perpetrators used children’s amusement arcade machines to conduct the gambling activities.

“The gambling was disguised as a timezone game centre, featuring games such as mickey mouse, roulette, spinning dragon, air ball, bird/fish/dragon shooting, paman cards, and slots,” said Abdul Rahim.

The two locations were Dissney Timezone in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, and Sky Timezone in Kalideres, West Jakarta. From Dissney Timezone, 76 gambling machines were seized, while 58 gambling machines were confiscated from Sky Timezone.

“Players made deposits in cash or by transfer, which were then converted into vouchers. From these vouchers, players exchanged coins to play on the gambling machines, and after playing, the coins could be exchanged back for gold or cash, either in physical form or by transfer,” he explained.

Abdul further stated that the suspects have been detained for further examination.

“Currently, the evidence and the detained individuals are undergoing intensive examination at the Jatanras Sub-directorate of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Jakarta Metropolitan Police,” he said.
