The Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has uncovered an international online gambling (judol) operation in the Hayam Wuruk office area, West Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5/2026). During the operation, police arrested 320 foreign nationals (WNA) and one Indonesian citizen (WNI).

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has commended the exposure of the online gambling practice in his region. He assured that the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) will provide the necessary support to the police in handling the case.

“The DKI Jakarta Government fully supports the firm actions taken by law enforcement authorities, particularly the police, to conduct the raid and subsequent seizures,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (13/5/2026).

Pramono also requested that the police thoroughly investigate the case to all involved parties. According to him, the perpetrators involved must also be processed legally in accordance with applicable regulations.

“Hopefully, this action is not half-hearted, so that it can create a deterrent effect for anyone who intends to engage in online gambling in Jakarta,” Pramono stated.

Previously, Member of Commission A of the Jakarta Provincial DPRD, Kevin Wu, assessed the exposure as a stern warning for the Jakarta Provincial Government. According to him, the case is not merely about online gambling, but concerns city security, foreign oversight, building governance, and cross-border cybercrime.

“Jakarta is talking big about being a global city, but a global city must not become a safe haven for international syndicates to run illegal businesses. Do not let legal office buildings in Jakarta be used as digital crime factories,” he said on Monday (11/9/2026).
