Police Uncover Drug Trafficking Disguised as Bird Feed in Bekasi
The Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has thwarted the distribution of 38.25 grams of methamphetamine disguised in bird feed packaging in the Bekasi area, West Java. Chief Unit 1 of Sub-Directorate 3, Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate, First Police Inspector I Nengah Suprata, stated that the suspect, identified by the initials DS (26), was arrested during the operation on 30 June 2026. “Our unit successfully disrupted the circulation of methamphetamine in the Bintara area, Bekasi, on Tuesday (30/6),” Nengah said in a statement received on Wednesday. He explained that the case came to light following a public tip-off regarding narcotics transaction activities in the West Bekasi area. Acting on the report, the operational team conducted surveillance and investigation, eventually apprehending DS during a transaction. “From DS, officers seized five packages of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 27.32 grams hidden inside a paper bag of bird feed,” Nengah revealed. During a search at a second location, police found two additional plastic clips containing methamphetamine with a gross weight of 10.93 grams. In addition to the narcotics, police also confiscated a digital scale, three empty plastic clips, tape, a mobile phone, and a bong. The total evidence of methamphetamine seized from the suspect amounts to 38.25 grams gross. The suspect and all evidence have been taken to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters for further investigation and legal proceedings.
