Police Uncover Drug Trafficking Case at B Fashion Hotel
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Directorate (Dittipidnarkoba) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) has uncovered a suspected drug trafficking case at the B Fashion Hotel in West Jakarta.
The Director of Narcotics Crimes (Dirtipidnarkoba) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the trafficking of ecstasy and etomidate vape at the hotel was carried out secretly by several employees and visitors who provided narcotics outside of the management’s knowledge.
“From the examination of the management of B Fashion Hotel and The Seven Spa, it was found that those within the operational structure of the business were aware of the drug use activities,” he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
Eko explained that the case was revealed following reports from the public regarding drug trafficking at the B Fashion Hotel, which had been ongoing for quite some time.
During the operation, investigators successfully apprehended 14 suspects, six of whom were hotel guests. In addition, three individuals have been added to the wanted list.
One of the suspects is DEP, also known as Mami Dania or Tania. Eko revealed that, according to Tania’s confession, the B Fashion Hotel was still carrying out drug trafficking in a clandestine manner through the hotel’s ‘Captain’.
However, not all employees or visitors were given access to conduct transactions within the hotel, so Tania took the initiative to obtain access to narcotics through another suspect, TRE, also known as Dervin.
Furthermore, before the operation of the nightlife entertainment venue conducted by the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, the B Fashion Hotel distributed narcotics through a pharmacist coordinated by the ‘Captain’.
However, since the operation of the nightlife entertainment venue, the B Fashion Hotel declared a ‘red code’ and only VIP guests could obtain narcotics through the ‘Captain’.
Eko also revealed that, according to Tania’s confession, the B Fashion Hotel operates 24 hours a day, which attracts visitors from various backgrounds, such as entrepreneurs, officials, and members of law enforcement.
“This is evidenced by the individuals who were apprehended during the operation by the Narcotics Directorate of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit,” he said.
Eko stated that the total amount of narcotics seized during the operation was 16 ecstasy pills and 111 units of etomidate vape. If converted, the total number of people saved from this operation is 127.
Furthermore, he also revealed that the narcotics that have been distributed at the B Fashion Hotel during its 12 years of operation are estimated as follows:
Ecstasy: 328,500 to 657,000 pills, worth IDR 328,500,000,000.00 to IDR 675,000,000,000.00.
Etomidate Vape: 21,900 to 54,750 units, worth IDR 65,700,000,000.00 to IDR 164,250,000,000.00.
“The estimated number of people who have consumed ecstasy and etomidate vape at the B Fashion Hotel is around 339,450 to 684,375,” he said.
For the next step, investigators will conduct further investigation into the involvement of other parties and trace the flow of funds and potential money laundering activities.
