Police Uncover Case of Lawyer Threatening and Extorting Young Entrepreneur
The Central Jakarta Metro Police have uncovered an alleged extortion and threat case against a young entrepreneur with the initials VL, reportedly perpetrated by a lawyer with the initials BP. The Head of Criminal Investigation at Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Hery Saputra, stated on Thursday that the case has now reached the stage of transferring the dossier to the prosecutor’s office. “It is already at the stage of handing over the file to the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office,” Roby said. Meanwhile, the victim, a young entrepreneur VL, stated that the extortion occurred in February 2026. At that time, he was invited to meet the suspect along with four other individuals at a hotel in Jakarta. Following the meeting, VL said he was driven around Jakarta. While passing through the Benyamin Sueb Street area in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, he was asked to hand over Rp500 million. However, that demand was reduced to Rp60 million. Furthermore, the perpetrators also threatened not to send him home if the demand was not met. After handing over Rp60 million, VL was dropped off in the Jalan Raya Puncak area, Bogor. “The extortion and threats against me carried out by a lawyer named Bangun Paulus Tudungta were quite traumatising for me,” VL revealed. The case was reported to the Central Jakarta Metro Police under Police Report Number LP/B/653/III/2026/SPKT/Polres Metro Jakpus/Polda Metro Jaya. In the report, the accused was reported for alleged criminal threats as stipulated in Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, Bangun Paulus Tudungta claimed he only received information about the transfer of the case to the prosecutor’s office late on Wednesday night, 10 June. However, he did not provide any comment regarding the substance of the case ensnaring him. “I just got the information at midnight last night. Please pray for me, everyone,” Paulus said briefly as he was about to be transferred to the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.
