Police Uncover Cable and Water Tank Theft Syndicate in Bontang
The Bontang Police have arrested seven men suspected of being part of a syndicate that stole public facilities, including electrical cables and water tanks, causing widespread disruption to community services. The suspects, identified by their initials as HMP, J, AS, R, G, ARM, and MRJ, were apprehended in a series of operations across Bontang on Friday, 17 July. The arrests were made following numerous public complaints regarding the disappearance of PLN electrical substation cables, street lighting cables, and water tanks. Police seized evidence including two iron saws, a cutter, pliers, and a vest believed to have been used during the thefts. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the suspects are linked to other similar cases.
