The Directorate of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri has uncovered a dark narcotics distribution network of international scope in Pekanbaru City, Riau. In the operation, police seized nearly 30 kilograms of methamphetamine and tens of thousands of ecstasy pills suspected to come from a Malaysia network. Director of Narcotics Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that this revelation stemmed from public information regarding a planned large-scale drug transaction. “The Subdit IV team of Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri received information from the public about an impending transaction of methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs from the Malaysia-Riau network in large quantities,” said Eko in his statement on Monday (13/4/2026). Police arrested two couriers, Wahyu Hidayat (40) and Juliadi (32), in the Jalan Nelayan Ujung area, Rumbai Subdistrict. Meanwhile, another suspect, Handoko, fled and is now on the wanted list (DPO). From further developments, police also secured an inmate named Harry Febrizal Putra, suspected of acting as the network coordinator. Harry controlled the drug distribution from inside Rumbai Class IIB Narcotics Prison. From the series of arrests and location searches, police found evidence in the form of methamphetamine weighing a total of 29,980.65 grams, or nearly 30 kilograms. In addition, officers seized 19,730 ecstasy pills packaged in several large plastic bags. Based on initial interrogation results, the two couriers admitted to being ordered by Harry Febrizal Putra, who is currently serving a sentence in the prison. “From the initial interrogation of the suspected perpetrators Wahyu Hidayat alias Wahyu Bin Solekan and Juliadi alias Adi Bin Suparno, they, along with Handoko alias Kodok Bin Suparno, were instructed by the suspected perpetrator Harry Febrizal Putra alias Ari Bin Faisol Hasan, who is known to be serving a sentence in Rumbai Class IIB Narcotics Prison, to pick up methamphetamine and ecstasy drugs,” Eko said. Harry is suspected of arranging the pickup of drugs from a vehicle believed to come from the Malaysia network, for subsequent distribution to other areas, including Madura.
